Car Plans 7 – Download

Whether you are involved in a Pinewood Derby® race through Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts, an Awana Grand Prix(1), or a similar race through Royal Rangers, Indian Guides, Christian Service Brigade, or another organization, Maximum Velocity! Car Plans provides you with three car design plans to turn your car kit into a winning car. All plans include templates and step-by-step instructions, and the plans provide for:

• Optimal quantity of weight
• Optimal weight placement for both the standard (scouting) wheel base and the extended wheel base (Click here for more information about Wheel Bases)
• A base design and two options

Also included is a construction timetable, woodworking tips, weigh-in instructions, thoughts on adult involvement in the pinewood derby car building process, and a bibliography. Most importantly, all of the information is in an easy to read format with 19 helpful drawings and diagrams.

The three plans in the Car Plans booklet are relatively simple to build, thus, they are ideal for those who have had limited experience with woodworking and with pinewood derby racing.

Here are examples of some of the cars that can be built using the plans in the booklet. Note that either wheel base can be used with any design or option, and that the color and any desired decals are selected by the builder.

The Predator

THE PREDATOR is low, sleek, and curvy. At just 5/16 inch thick, THE PREDATOR easily streaks down the track, producing top results. To get a feel for the dimensions of this car, the chrome pinstriping on the car is 1/8 inch in width.

In addition to the car kit and basic hand tools, you will need the following supplies to build THE PREDATOR:

• 1/2 and 1/4 inch Brad Point or Forstner drill bits (hardware store item)
• 3.5 ounce Tungsten Canopy (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• Twelve, 3/16 inch Tungsten Cubes (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• 1/8 inch chrome pinstriping was used to customize the car in the photo (available from Maximum Velocity!).

The Assimilator

THE ASSIMILATOR will capture the competition!. The low-profile body and optimal weight placement ensures that the ASSIMILATOR will produce top results. To get a feel for the dimensions of this car, the yellow pinstriping on the car is 1/32 and 3/16 inch in width.

In addition to the car kit and basic hand tools, you will need the following supplies to build THE ASSIMILATOR:

• 25/64 and 5/16 inch Brad Point or Forstner drill bits (hardware store item)
• 2.5 ounce Tungsten Canopy (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• Twelve to fourteen 1/4 inch Tungsten Cubes (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• Tungsten putty, or 3/16 inch Tungsten Cubes for fine adjustment (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• 1/32 and 3/16 inch yellow pinstriping was used to customize the car in the photo. The canopy was sprayed with chrome paint.

• 1/8 inch black and white pinstriping was used to customize the car in the photo. The canopy was painted metallic black.

The Vaccinator

THE VACCINATOR is a real shot in the arm! The low-profile body and optimal weight placement ensures that the VACCINATOR will produce top results, while the unique design is sure to garner some envious looks from the competition.

In addition to the car kit and basic hand tools, you will need the following supplies to build THE VACCINATOR:

• 1/2 and 1/4 inch Brad Point or Forstner drill bits (hardware store item)
• 3.5 ounce Tungsten Canopy (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• 1 ounce of 3/16 inch Tungsten Cubes (available from Maximum Velocity!)
• The car in the photo sports a custom paint job from Liquid Illusions.
